"Realizations"

Morning 1906- Clarence White
Realizations...

I’ve taken to dimming the lights,
applying makeup with my face
not so close to the mirror.

Realize chin raised and eyebrows arched
help a bit with an overall look.

Clothing that floats and glides
is elegant, or so I tell myself,

and bathtubs without a mirror
are far more inviting.

  2. I agree, Margaret, bath tubs or showers without mirrors are definitely more inviting! Unfortunately, I'm so short-sighted I have to get up close to the mirror to apply make-up.

  3. Those signs of aging do creep up on one ... it is a good idea not to examine oneself too closely.

  4. Oh yes, that cursed mirror! Teller of tales you don't need to hear. I really loved this.

  7. Yes, I prefer my bathtub far from a mirror.

  8. Oh Margaret, your heroine is aging:
    dimming the lights--cateracts
applying makeup with my face not so close to the mirror--far sighted
mirrors gone from tub--excess fat and wrinkled
As my cardiologist says, "Consider the alternative.
But a fun read, some people can join the crowd.

  9. Wow...yeah, no mirrors these days, I might come down with the "just looked in the mirror flu" on a daily basis. This is a great reflection on age and vanity. You cooked up a good one here, loved it!!!

  10. Aging is a discovery but relating to it is the more interesting. Most would rather not be reminded but vanity will impose strange reactions. Look or not to look? It is a fun thing, Marge! Great!
