September's Overture
Late August finds me
reclining porch-side,
for there's no other way
to sit in an Adirondack chair -
savoring chardonnay,
appreciating a symphony
of crickets (bliss high -n- low)
and katydids (rather raspier)
frogs, the occasional dog
paying homage
to the renaissance around the corner.

ReplyDeleteI remember making some Adirondack chairs when I was young. I think I like making them more than sitting in them. Now I prefer a straighter back when sitting.

ReplyDeleteI love all the sounds as well, especially the description of the symphony. The crickets are my own favorite this time of year. And a great title as well - wonderful piece!
