Cleansing
It's captured in a sigh
this first blush of day -
nursling of eve's brooding sky
and midnight rain,
where tired dreams
and tiny thoughts
evaporate
with mountain mist -
become buoyant
beyond my window;
wish (or two) refreshed
with a swish of mares' tails.

Note: Mares' tails are wispy, ethereal clouds with a classic trailing shape
Oh! Margaret, how beautiful.

This is a breath of loveliness, Margaret - from "nursling of eve's brooding sky" to the mare's tails swishing at its end, a poem of both sunlit dawn and evening rain. A beautiful one. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice images i enjoyed this
ReplyDeletemuch love...
This is so beautiful, Margaret. I can feel that tiny sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you put that sigh in your first sentence, because it was breathtaking in her song
ReplyDeleteI like the way you took the mood of this song and lifted it up with the swish of the mare's tail. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis has some gorgeous images, Margaret. I love the swish of the mare's tail.
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty. You took a neat direction with the prompt. It feels like it can be a metaphor for starting things afresh after seeing that the only barriers were the ones you created in your mind.
ReplyDeleteI do love how you turned that melancholy into a fresh start... the mare's tail, what a wonderful sound to close with.
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of poem. Love it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
