A Comfort - of sorts

Fireblossom Friday - Winter

A Comfort - of sorts

If there's any spark left
it's a fading ember
where a summer's kiss
or winter's caress
along your naked spine
lingers no longer -

where my hand in yours
brings you warmth

as I remember the burn.

  2. A beautiful feeling to share this winter season in the warming comfort of someone else's hands. Tis the season to celebrate every day with friends and family. Especially with the dreary weather.

  3. What a wonderful feeling.. Oh yes tomorrow it's Friday and time to sit in front of the fireplace, enjoying the ember of our fireplace.. Thank you for this Margaret.

  4. This describes what happens to so many passionate relationships over time. Passion cools if it's not constantly rekindled. A good reminder!

  5. Interesting. I was writing this from the perspective of Alzheimer's. But I like the other "take" too.

  6. Re-reading it from the perspective of Alzheimers makes this poem even more powerful, especially the other feeling the warmth as the narrator remembers the burn. Fantastic, Margaret.

  7. Oh! Let me pause and reread. Definitely a comfort, of sorts, like the moment after a hot flash.

  11. A question of degree, and the answer so melancholy. Wonderful stuff, Margret! Thanks so much for being part of my challenge. it would not be complete without your voice.

  13. Very nice, Margaret. I can relate. When I have 'finished' with something ending very unpleasantly, I say "it is like getting out of the Army." But even then there is still an ember burning, reminding, at times it wasn't ALL unpleasant while it was happening.
