"April" NaPoWriMo2014 BEGINS. A chance to win a book of MY POETRY & Photography

April

She's a tease,
rewards with hints
of lavender and lace,

receives eager fingers
with frosted slap.

She's a diva,
summons desire,
traces its tempo.

Birds start the chorus,
bees lend their buzz
as she lowers Spring's baton.

Margaret Bednar, April 1, 2014

Linked with "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Words Count with Mama Zen" - Surprise her with 37 words or less.

What does THAT stand for?  30 poems in 30 days!   National Poetry Writing Month.  A list of all the participating poets can be found on the website, HERE .  Checkout Facebook and Twitter as well.

In celebration of NaPoWriMo2014, I will give away one hardcover book of my poetry and photography.   I create my books using my Mac's iPhoto program and the quality is fantastic.   I am compiling a new poetry book for this give-a-way and will showcase a sampling of it mid-month.  I am pondering a title, but perhaps it will be "Seasonal Offerings with Sprinklings of Love".

Remember, you must SIGN up below in the COMMENTS in order to participate.   I will draw names from a hat.  Good luck and I hope you enjoy this month's poetry.

  1. And no April Fools about it, either, even if she is a tease! :)

  2. I like the frosted slap - a reminder that cold days linger into Springtime.

  3. I love the frosted slap too. Hoping spring is here to stay. :)

  4. Brilliant summing up of a fickle month. I see her here as a real woman, say in a Toulouse Lautrec painting, warding of admirers with a smack of her fan.

  7. So true! After a couple of days in the 60s here, it actually snowed! April is such a tease!

  8. Like many of the other comments, I too like the frosted slap (not that I do like it when it suddenly starts to snow outside). Very nice and clear, yet poetically beautiful.

  17. Best wishes, Margaret. I envy you, and might keep on until ... (tell you later).

Your conductor, the teasing diva, April, most often does a good job of getting things started. I like her 'showers'.

I like this. The conductor signalling the start of spring's goodness. I'm into NaPoWriMo! Missed a few but faithfully doing it right now. Hopefully I'm lucky for your book. Thanks Marge!
