Contentment?
A little red marble
rolls within me, tickling,
tracking its way along,
sometimes merrily,
tracing a way pink
with contentment
other times settles
upon a path white, observing
life's billowing chaos.
If I were to trace miles logged,
would contentment
outdistance regret?

Another poem for Imaginary Garden with Real Toad's - Artistic Interpretations. I'm trying to not see things in the painting and just respond to the lines, colors, shapes. Not sure I succeeded as I "see" the red marble... but I'm getting closer. I may try my hand at another abstract piece.
Chelsea Bednar's abstract art is the subject for today's challenge (my daughter). Hop on over to the Garden and give it a try!

ReplyDeleteJinksy... yes I agree. Red is the action, I guess I saw pink as "contentment" but didn't articulate that. :) You have a sharp eye.
ReplyDeleteWell, since I do not see the marble, and have never thought of contentment as red, it sure works for me! Contentment is unabashed blood flow through otherwise starved realms (which I think is the answer to your well-posed final query)!

ReplyDeleteLove your daughters painting- I have to share it with my special needs student-He is a good artist who appreciates inspiration! (He attempted Escher and the 'stairs' last year and did a credible job!)
He has some difficulty with light and dark- ask your daughter if she minds?

DeleteThis one really spoke to me Margaret--the metaphor fits the mood of the rolling lines and colors, and hits home with those last lines. Like the painting, perhaps such judgments are always in a state of flux.

Her art, btw, reminds me of a silk-screen print, Margaret. I actually like that you see the marble, no matter what. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the answer would be also. For some reason when I look at the painting I see angels being birthed into fire. That is the beauty of Chelsea's art..so much to see in it!
