Look Down
Look down, look closely,
for shadows do whisper,
flowers do weep.
Look down, listen intently,
yesteryear has answers
for those who seek.

This is for Kim Klassen's "Texture Tuesday" challenge and I used the texture "Dream-it" using a bit over 80% opacity. She also threw out a challenge to use the prompt "Look Down". If you are interested in participating, there is a prize at the end of the week for one lucky person: a copy of Elevate the Everyday! (a Photographic Guide to Picturing Motherhood).

Love this image! And this texture works perfectly with it!
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more! It really works very well: photo and texture!
ReplyDeleteLight Trigger: Texture Tuesday
This is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteDon't know much about texture, but I do know that I like the sun in your photo and the whispering shadows and weeping flowers--harbingers of the past.
ReplyDeletenice...i like the wisdom in the second stanza...and down is as good a place as any to look...never know what you have been missing...smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting interpretation of the prompt and the photograph. As others have noted, the contrast of the second stanza is very telling. Great work!
ReplyDeleteWow. I absolutely loved this piece. Shadows are such inspiration.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I totally agree, yesteryears do contain answers, all you really have to do is seek them out. Great job. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI like that the photo is of an unhooked wagon, suggesting so many things about forgotten loads without words--and the first stanza picks up that sadness of the unalterable past, while the second makes the best of it.
ReplyDeleteOr is it a cannon? In that case, all the more so.
Nice composition with this shadow !!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, all! This is a canon - model used during the civil war. I listened to a park ranger give a whole long talk as we stood around this cannon... I just wanted him and the group to MOVE AWAY before the sun went under the clouds :)
ReplyDeleteWow.... intense photo and amazing verse matching it so well... I absolutely love this Margaret, you just blew me away, to coin a pun! (Sorry) Love the whole depth of this... The cannon shadow speaks volumes....
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWell Done...I love the image and your words especially, "shadows do whisper" Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat snap and poem :)
ReplyDeleteMargaret, this is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBreaks the heart a little. I think it of the loss of wars, based on that old cannon.
Love your photo capture.
xoox
the first verse, especially, is really stunning! love this!
ReplyDelete♥
How fun! I use several of Kim's textures from time to time and love that she is so widely used! Well done, Margaret.
