IGWRT's - Ella's Edge "A Feather's Destiny" & Friday Flash 55

A Feather's Destiny

I am a fragment
of my former plumage;
accept being alone.
Lighter, smaller,

my quill quiet.
Prefer soaring freely,
spinning out of control
Winging skyward,

free falling with abandonment.
Tickling, teasing, creating wonder.
Embracing nature's simplicity,
her freedom.

Not always thrilled to laud
a beauty's vanity,
number of enemies slain,
nor celebrate a hunter's success.

This is linked with Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, "Ella's Edge".  We were supposed to try to see what wisdom "speaks" to us through one of her images.  I kept coming back to a feather in this image and well, this was what I came up with (wise or not :)

    I never imagined what a feather would say. You do it so creatively! I too would rather the flight than the trophy--tho I pick up feathers in admiration if they fall or are thrown away.

    you brought your subject to life quite beautifully. there is something very peaceful in this; maybe it is the "free falling with abandonment" and all the ways of embracing freedom.

    great use of language to really vreated the mood in this margaret....words like abandonment set the stage...esp in contrast the freedom...that last bit is tight too...

    A feather's destiny...this has a spiritual/mystic feeling to it. I tried to pick a favorite part, but all of it spoke to me so profoundly.

    I love the guided feel of your words~
    I too thought of aging, how life dances and beguiles us and then sometimes gives us a kick into reality! Your words were romantic and felt like they were floating~

    Your feather of a poem floats lightly down, and shows so many different facets and thoughts as it falls. Such a lot packed in here it's hard to believe it's only 55 words--lovely photo at the bottom, too, as well as Ella's.
