This powerful image spoke to me in SO many ways. Lacking time, I took the easy way out with a "modern" haiku. This is for Magpie Tales #104.
Also linked with Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, "Open Link Monday".
Nice, Margaret!
ReplyDeletePerhaps my taste buds don't work...
ReplyDeleteDarkly passionate response to the picture.
ReplyDeleteGreat modern haiku, that prompt left me with more options than time as well...perhaps I'll return to it now. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWOW... excellent!
ReplyDeletea dark haiku response...nice one ~
ReplyDeleteNice response to a difficult picture!
ReplyDeleteYum.
ReplyDeletePerfect for the prompt, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteK
It fits the prompt perfectly!
ReplyDeleteA tad pun-nish with the last line ?!?
ReplyDeleteAhh well I just got annoyed...
Izzy, I wondered about that last line, not wanting to offend anyone. But I looked it up in the dictionary, and it doesn't only refer to African Americans. And of course, this picture brings up so many thoughts, slavery one of them. Can you IMAGINE this photo being put out there in the 1960's! Wow, we have come a long way since then. (or I most of us have, I hope).
ReplyDeleteAND I refer to my OWN self here. I warned my whole family NOT to buy me boxes of chocolates because I will think of NOTHING else until they are all gone (usually a 24 hour period) No will power here :)
Plus, it fit the syllable count.
