These are a few of the alligator photographs I took while hiking Sea Pines Forest Preserve. The diversity of beauty I found here fascinated me. From lakes and swamps, trees, turtles, birds, flowers, water reflections (even horseback riders)... well, it was a camera happy morning! The above I am entering in "Weekend Reflections". It is not a b&w photo, but it certainly looks like it.
For every photo you see of Sea Pines, I suffered the mosquitoes! I hadn't brought along any bug spray - the noise of their buzzing filled my ear and they swarmed my sweating skin the second I paused. I clicked QUICKLY! The next morning I visited an Audubon park and remembered the spray - photos of that place will be up next week - I have AMAZING photos of a baby alligator I can't wait to share. This weekend the last of my photos of this place will be shown. I still have all of Savannah, GA, to share next week.
A local resident interrupted his jog to point out mommy alligator hiding behind the tall grass. Her babies were on a log, sunning themselves. There used to be more, but predators have killed and eaten a few of her babies. I believe there were five sitting upon this log.
those little alligators are so cute! i wouldn't want to meet up with a grown up, tho. :)

ReplyDeleteThe mother is scary, but babies are cute and look like lizards. It must have been a rare chance to take photos of babies of wild alligator from such a close distance. Great shots.

Excellent subject of reflection ! The first one is my favourite : it is so threatening and so quiet at the same time : I just love the sensation.

ReplyDeleteI agree, prehistoric indeed! Absolutely no soul in there. I will be posting photos next week of a baby alligator that thought we were going to feed the turtles. Really creepy, when my daughter and I realized it was watching US!
