My grandmother had a tub mounted with a hand cranked wringer mangle in the basement of our flat--and indoor clothes lines by the furnace for Chicago winters--but it took her a full day to do laundry once a week--and there was no throwing your clothes on the floor and then in the hamper after one wearing, either, unless you'd gotten them pretty dirty. Now I gripe at my brand new machine because the cycles are infinite and confusing. ;-) Great set of historical poems, Margaret.
hedgewitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13090696134322515899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3074509503476824621.post-2207169362344687792012-10-19T07:09:00.569-04:002012-10-19T07:09:00.569-04:00This is a beautiful look back at those days ~ Lau...This is a beautiful look back at those days ~ Laundry at those days were really a torture, I can't imagine my hands doing all of that paddling and washing ~

We, including our children, are definitely spoiled these days ~Scarlethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03330793338813508704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3074509503476824621.post-68950331622714205202012-10-19T06:55:32.481-04:002012-10-19T06:55:32.481-04:00can you imagine having to boil your laundry..we ar...can you imagine having to boil your laundry..we are def spoilt by convenience....the push button harvest to vegetate...we teach our kids early you know...its about being entertained...but what happens when it isnt?Brian Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00722940075884718007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3074509503476824621.post-50731222708498429092012-10-19T03:22:21.237-04:002012-10-19T03:22:21.237-04:00You have weaved it so perfectly !!!You have weaved it so perfectly !!!Amrit Sinhahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08333443172096537424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3074509503476824621.post-34776632499660552912012-10-19T02:01:31.137-04:002012-10-19T02:01:31.137-04:00Great write.
